Store Audit: SEO & AI Search, a Shopify app by Cape Wired. Last updated: 31 October 2026.
Who we are
The Store Audit: SEO & AI Search app is made by Cape Wired, 21 Dandby Close, Little Paxton, PE19 6FA, United Kingdom. You can contact us about this policy or your data at contact@capewired.com.
What the app does
The app audits your Shopify store against 40 practical checks and gives you a score and an action plan. It is read-only: it never changes your store, and it never adds code or scripts to your storefront.
Information the app reads from your store
With the read-only permissions you approve when you install the app, it reads:
- Your store name, web address, country and currency.
- Products and collections: titles, descriptions, search engine titles and descriptions, images (including alt text, dimensions and file sizes), prices, barcodes, product types and vendors.
- Online store pages, blog articles and URL redirects.
- Navigation menus.
- The file names in your live theme and its main layout file.
It also visits your public storefront pages, your sitemap and your robots.txt file, as any visitor could, at no more than one page a second and at most 50 requests per audit.
Information the app does not access
The app does not request access to customers, orders or payments, and it does not collect any information about your customers.
What we store
- Audit results: scores, and short summaries of what each check found (for example product titles, page web addresses and short snippets of text). We do not store copies of your pages.
- The list of key pages used for each audit.
- Your answers to the audit questions, and AI prompt test results: the ones you record in the app and, on Pro, the answers from the automatic tests.
- The access token Shopify gives the app so it can read your store.
- On Pro, the competitor web addresses you choose and the latest search figures for them.
- On Pro, whether you want the monthly check-up email. The email goes to your store's owner email address, which we read from Shopify when we send it and do not store.
If your storefront is password protected and you enter the storefront password when you run an audit, it is used for that audit only and is never stored.
Services we use
- Google PageSpeed Insights receives the public web addresses of your homepage and one product page to measure their speed. Google's privacy policy applies to that request.
- OpenAI (ChatGPT), Perplexity and Google (Gemini), on Pro plans only, receive the AI search test prompts. These contain your store name, web address, main product category, country and a typical price, and nothing about your customers. We use their paid business APIs, under which they do not use what we send to train their models. Their privacy policies apply to those requests.
- DataForSEO, on Pro plans only, receives your store's web address and the competitor web addresses you choose, to return public estimates of their search traffic and keywords.
- Resend (resend.com), on Pro plans only, sends the monthly check-up email to your store's owner email address. Every email has a link to stop them, and you can turn them off in the app.
- Render (render.com) hosts the app and its database in Frankfurt, Germany (European Union).
- Shopify provides the connection to your store, under Shopify's own privacy policy.
We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your audit history while the app is installed, so you can compare audits over time. When you uninstall the app, its access to your store ends straight away. Shopify then asks us to delete your store's data, and we delete everything we hold about your store at that point (usually 48 hours after uninstalling).
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about your store, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing contact@capewired.com. If you are in the UK or EU, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update it here and change the date at the top.
